TQ Tri Nations Series

This event had to be transferred from Saturday to Sunday due to weather and track conditions.

The Christchurch TQ Club organised this series with drivers from USA and Australia competing against top NZ drivers.

The series was run in four groups with three rounds each and the top 16 drivers on points went forward to the final plus the top 4 from the repercharge.

After the 3 heats local James Thompson was sitting in second place and took no 2 on the grid. Other locals Sean Brown and Chris Foster also qualified for the finals.

The winner of the 25 lap final was 2NZ Duane Todd, 2nd place went to 14A Paul le Cren and 3rd place to 1NZ Craig Todd. The first local home was Sean Brown in 12th place. The other locals Thompson and Foster unfortunately did not finish.

The day was marred by an accident in one round of the TQs when Rachel Melrose rolled and struck the wall. We all wish her the best for a speedy recovery.

Other classes today were ministocks and Production saloons.

Vinny Spafford Parsons won the ministock event with 21 points followed closely by Sarah Bellis in second place with 20 points. Third place was Jessie Oldam with 17 points.

Production Saloon results are not yet available.

Next meeting is the demolition derby on 2 February.
