West Coast Speedway Saturday 31 January 2009


A fabulous day?s racing at Greenstone Park on Saturday. A large crowd participated in an exciting day concluding with the Coast Toyota Demolition Derby

Stock Cars
A good field of stock cars took to the field on Saturday but the first race sorted them out. Some heavy hitting depleted the field and under half of the cars made it to the finish line. This was the end of the days racing for several drivers.
Results
1st 66 GM Dave Kokshoorn 35 points
2nd 82 GM Dwayne Honey 34 points
3rd 43 GM Jason Smith 29 points

Ministock
It was almost a clean sweep of first placings in this class for Tony Newman of Christchurch. Newman won the first two races but was beaten to cross the line in the last race by Glen Redmond.

2nd 61 Y Chris McSherry 20 points
3rd 14 GM Sean Brown 16 points

Youth Ministocks
Sarah Bellis dominated this class again with two firsts and a second. The younger competitors are starting to get the feel of their cars and the track and are improving all the time.

3rd= 4 GM Jemma Smith 11 points
3rd= 43 GM Ryan Smith 11 points

Street Stocks
Once again a bit of carnage and breakdowns depleted this field with only two cars completing the second round.

2nd 39 GM Tim Kemp 13 points
3rd 89 GM Nick Petch 12 points

Production Saloons
The Shearer family dominated this class with one point separating Brent and Corey

Demolition Derby

The feature of the day was the Coast Toyota Demolition Derby and this attracted a good field and finally won by Daniel Van Looy as the last car still going.

The Warehouse voucher spot prizes were won by Monique Tasker and Clynton Anderson.
The next meeting is on the 14 February and it is Fireworks night.
