West Coast Speedway 28 March 2009

The West Coast Speedway meeting at Greenstone Park on Saturday featured the A J Mooney Youth King of the Coast and the Tony Smail laser Electrical Midgets.

Youth Ministocks
Sixteen cars from Christchurch, Nelson, Blenheim and the West Coast raced with a passion worthy of their adult counterparts. The first Coaster home was Brogan Jackson in 5th equal place. An impressive effort as this is Jackson?s first year of racing.

2nd 65 Kieran Teague 40 points
3rd 19 Levi Collier 39 points
4th 88 Liam Smith (Blenheim) 37 points
5th = 13 Brogan Jackson (Greymouth) 31 points
5th= 10 Ashleigh Murray (Christchurch) 31 points

Midgets
The West Coast Speedway was fortunate to host a round of the Barry Butterworth Midget Series. The midgets are fast and put on an exciting display of racing.

Results
1st 99 David Kerr (Christchurch) 25 points
2nd 26 Phillipa Melrose (Christchurch) 22 points
3rd 73 Neville Bazalae (Nelson) 20 points

Ministocks
The ministocks provided a good field of cars for racing and some thrilling and some controversial racing. Excellent racing from the Westport cars with Chris McSherry taking out first pace and RJ Ryder third place.

2nd 23 Tony Newman (Christchurch) 28 points
3rd 9 RJ Ryder (Westport) 27 points

Stockcars
A smaller field than we normally see of stockcars raced on Saturday and various mechanical problems prevented a full field racing each round.

1st 4 Jamie Routhan (Greymouth) 20 points
2nd 88 Dave Kokshoorn (Greymouth) 13 points
3rd 43 Jason Smith (Greymouth) 10 points

Streetstocks
Good racing from the streetstocks again and rearly a clean sweep by Nick Petch with tho first placings and one second place.

Production saloons
A small field of production Saloons this meeting and resulted in an overdue win for Ashley Boyd.

2nd Brent Shearer (Greymouth) 9 points
3rd Steve Shearer (Greymouth) 7 points

The next meeting is on the 4 April features the South Island Modified Championship.
