West Coast Speedway 14 March 2009
The West Coast Speedway Club Championship at Greenstone Park was held on Saturday with good fields, exciting racing and fine weather.
Production Saloons
A good field of production saloons was the first to take to the track and once again the Shearer family were to the fore. Corey Shearer raced well with two first and a second. There was tight finished with only one point between the next three placings.
Results
1st 64 GM Corey Shearer 32 points
2nd 78 T Cory McQuillan 28 points
3rd 6 GM Brent Shearer 27 points
Youth Ministocks
The Youth Ministocks were the next class to take to the track and showed great skills and local Sarah Bellis was unlucky not to take out the Championship and had to be content with second place. Brogan Jackson from Greymouth was third equal with Levi Collier from Nelson but missed the run off and was awarded forth place. The next speedway meeting on 28 March will feature the Youth King of the Coast and local competitors are expected to do well.

1st 10 N Steven Soper 27 points
2nd 18 GM Sarah Bellis 24 points
3rd= 19 N Levi Collier 23 points (3rd on runoff)
3rd= 13 GM Brogan Jackson 23 points
Streetstocks
The Streetstock fields were the next to race but the field was decimated the first time out. John O?Callaghan was the most consistent with one first placing and two seconds.

1st 15 GM John O?Callaghan 16 points
2nd 89 GM Nick Petch 11 points
3rd 41 GM Michael Knipe 8 points
Ministock
Ministocks were the next on the track and they always put on good racing. Placings were close with a dead heat for first place and only 4 points between the first five placings. Perry Soper won the coin toss for first place from Shane Olsen.

1st 10 N Perry Soper 24 points
2nd 48 GM Shane Olsen 24 points
3rd 61 Y Chris McSherry 22 points
Stock Cars
The last class to race was the stock car class. Once again, great racing with Brian Hahn, Jason Smith and Tony Stanton winning one heat each. Tony Stanton won the class by one point.

1st 11 GM Tony Stanton 29 points
2nd 94 GM Brian Hahn 28 points
3rd 82 GM Dwayne Honey 26 points
The next meeting on the 28 March will feature the Youth King of the Coast, Jim Bradford TQs and minisprints from Christchurch.
