Great day for racing at Greenstone Park on Saturday for the Gough, Gough and
Hamer South Island TQ Championship. Eighteen entries from all over the South
Island but won by local James Thompson for the second time. Thompson was
second to Ben Tiplady (Chch)in the first round and first in an accident
marred second round. He went into the third round with the highest points
points but a draw three quarters of the way down the field. With the usual
steady concentration he shows on the track he gradually hmade his way to the
front of the field but had to settle for second place. His points tally of
49 was enough for forst place followed by Bob Schoester from Dunedin on 41
points and Jeremy Beaton (Christchurch)on 37 points.

The day finished with the Coast Toyota Demolition Derby where the last car
still going is declaired the winner. Twenty two cars took to the field and
one of the first casualties was Rodney Thompson who rolled his car onto the
roof. This wasn't Rodneys day as his entry in the South Island TQ
championship blew the motor in the warm up round. This event is a real crowd
pleaser with plenty of action and crashes.
The final two cars going were Michael Anisey and Dwain Iafeta and Iafeta
finally took the money when Anisey's car eventally died.

Dwayne 2006 Demo Derby champ!
Dwayne Iafeta has crashed and bashed his way to win the 2006 Coast Toyota Demo Derby.
Dwayne managed to survive an exciting derby that had its beginings much like a production car race but soon degenerated into the
chaos that is a demo derby!
Well done Dwayne
